Amazon Q pricing

Plans overview

Amazon Q is a new type of generative AI–powered assistant that is specifically for work and can be tailored to your business. Amazon Q can help you get fast, relevant answers to pressing questions, solve problems, generate content, and take actions using the data and expertise found in your company's information repositories, code, and enterprise systems. When you chat with Amazon Q, it provides immediate, relevant information and advice to help streamline tasks, speed decision-making, and help spark creativity and innovation at work. We have built Amazon Q to be secure and private, and it can understand and respect your existing identities, roles, and permissions and use this information to personalize its interactions.

Amazon Q is currently available in preview*. It will be available in two easy-to-understand pricing plans: Business and Builder. For more information on these plans, see below

*During the preview period, many of the Amazon Q capabilities are available without any charge. See the Preview pricing section below for details. Consolidated per-user pricing and access via Amazon Q Business and Amazon Q Developer plans are coming soon.

Amazon Q Business

$20/month

per user

This plan includes access to Amazon Q Business, that can help you solve problems, generate content, find insights in data, and take actions based on your company's data, information, and systems.

  • Is an expert in your organization's knowledge: You can make Amazon Q Business an expert in your organization's knowledge and experience by pointing it at your internal data repositories, as well as connect to more than 40 enterprise systems—including Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Salesforce, Google Drive, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Gmail, Slack, Atlassian, and Zendesk—to help people across your organization easily get the answers they need, make faster decisions, synthesize new information, and lift out of the drag of repetitive tasks.
  • Understands your users' permissions: Amazon Q Business connects to your identity provider to understand your users and their permissions so they can ask detailed, nuanced questions and get relevant results that only include information they have access to.
  • Get crisp, relevant answers based on your business data: Employees can ask Amazon Q Business about anything they might have previously had to search for (such as, "What are the latest guidelines for logo usage?" or "How do I apply for a company credit card?") and get fast answers plus links to the relevant sources of that information.
  • Streamlines day-to-day communications: Just ask, and Amazon Q Business can generate content ("Create a blog post and three social media headlines announcing the product described in this documentation"), create executive summaries ("Write a summary of our meeting transcript with a bulleted list of action items"), and much more ("Draft an email highlighting our Q3 training programs for customers in India," or "Create a meeting agenda to talk about the latest customer satisfaction report").
  • Completes your tasks: Amazon Q Business can help complete certain tasks, reducing the amount of time employees spend on repetitive work like filing tickets. Ask Amazon Q Business to "Summarize customer feedback on the new pricing offer in Slack," and then request that Amazon Q Business take that information and open a ticket in Jira to update the marketing team. Or, "Summarize this call transcript," and then "Open a new case for Customer A in Salesforce."
  • Enables enterprise guardrails: Admins can apply guardrails like restricting sensitive topics, blocking keywords, and filtering out inappropriate language.
  • Available through a web application or your existing applications: The Amazon Q Business chat interface is available through your own tailored Amazon Q Business application, or it can be embedded into existing applications like Slack.
  • Entitles you to use Amazon Q in QuickSight: Includes Amazon Q in Amazon QuickSight, our popular business intelligence (BI) service.
    • Discovers new insights in your data: Ask Amazon Q questions about your dashboard like, "Why did the number of orders increase last month?" or "What were the sales in California last months?" and receive visualizations and a narrative summary with the drivers of the increase.
    • Summarizes trends in your dashboard: Amazon Q helps you capture key trends, challenges, and outliers from your data with just a glance by automatically preparing executive summaries that describe the changes in your data over time.
    • Creates data stories from a simple request: Share insights by creating compelling data stories in minutes. Just ask Amazon Q to  "Build a story about how the business has changed over the last month for a business review with senior leadership."

Amazon Q Developer

$25/month

per user

This plan includes access to Amazon Q Business and Amazon Q Developer that can transform the way that developers and IT professionals build, optimize, and operate applications.

  • Includes all the capabilities of Amazon Q Business plus the following:
  • Is an expert in AWS: Amazon Q Developer is trained on over 17 years' worth of AWS knowledge and experience building in the cloud, including best practices, well-architected patterns, and solutions to help you get started faster, learn unfamiliar technologies, build new solutions, and spend less time on undifferentiated work like maintenance.
  • Provides crisp guidance on AWS capabilities, services, and solutions: Developers and IT users can ask Amazon Q Developer to explore new AWS capabilities (if you ask Amazon Q Developer to tell you about a new capability like "Agents for Amazon Bedrock," you'll get a description of the feature plus links to relevant materials), get started on new projects (Amazon Q Developer will respond to "What are the ways to build a web app on AWS?" with a list of relevant services and the advantages of each), and architect solutions (ask Amazon Q Developer, "What are the best practices for building event-driven architectures?" and get well-architected guidance and important considerations to keep in mind).
  • Assists with debugging, testing, and optimizing your code:  When you use Amazon Q Developer in your integrated development environment (IDE), it understands your code and helps you with daily tasks like resolving bugs. You can ask Amazon Q Developer to help ("My code has an IO error. Can you provide a fix?"), and it will provide a suggestion you can add to your application in one step. Amazon Q Developer can also create unit tests that it can insert into your code ("Write unit tests for the selected function"). Amazon Q  Developer can even suggest optimized code for higher performance ("Optimize my selected DynamoDB query"), providing you a natural language recommendation on what to fix as well as the code to implement.
  • Helps you optimize and troubleshoot applications: Amazon Q  Developer offers personalized guidance, troubleshooting, and optimizations for applications ("Help me find the right EC2 instance to deploy my gaming app"). It can analyze network connectivity and console errors ("Why can't I connect my EC2 instance using SSH?") by analyzing your end-to-end configuration and providing a diagnosis ("This instance appears to be in a private subnet, so public accessibility may need to be established"). Amazon Q Developer can also troubleshoot issues like Amazon S3 configuration errors with the push of a button.
  • Helps developers get up to speed on unfamiliar code: Amazon Q Developer can explain your code in natural language and provide details like which services the code uses and what various functions do, speeding ramp-up time for new developers and helping experienced developers work on an unfamiliar project without spending hours reviewing the code.
  • Accelerates feature development: In Amazon CodeCatalyst, our unified software development service for teams, you can assign Amazon Q Developer backlog tasks—just like you would a teammate—and Amazon Q Developer generates a step-by-step plan for the feature. Once you approve, Amazon Q Developer will write the code. You perform a code review, request reworks (if necessary), approve, and deploy.
  • Upgrades your code: Amazon Q Developer can do code transformations for you, starting with Java upgrades. This will reduce the time that it takes from days to minutes, helping achieve the security benefits and realize the performance improvements from the latest language versions.
  • Turns your natural language instructions into SQL queries: Amazon Q Developer can write SQL queries for you in Amazon Redshift, our petabyte-scale data warehouse services. Just go the Amazon Redshift Query Editor and give Amazon Q Developer instructions like, "Create a SQL request to find the highest sales by buyer." Amazon Q Developer will provide SQL code recommendations based on your data, which you can add to your notebook in one step.
  • Available wherever you work: The Amazon Q Developer chat interface is available where developers and IT users work—including the AWS Management Console and AWS Console Mobile App, Slack, and Microsoft Teams—using AWS Chatbot, popular IDEs, and more.
