AWS Training Policies

Last Updated: January 23, 2024

These AWS Training Policies apply to your order (“Order”) of Classroom Training, Skill Builder Team Subscription, or Enterprise Skills Transformation each defined below and each a type of AWS Training as defined in the AWS Service Terms available at https://aws.amazon.com/service-terms/.

1. Classroom Training

This Section 1 applies to your purchase of instructor-led training classes, labs, and other training (“Classroom Training”) as described in your Order.

1.1 Term. Unless otherwise specified in your order, the term (“Term”) for your Order of Classroom Training is (a) 365 days from the date the last party signs, clicks-to-accept, confirms, or completes the Order (“Effective Date”) or (b) if you received funding for Classroom Training from AWS, until the end of the same calendar year.

1.2 Payments. AWS will invoice you after delivery of a class. You agree to pay the amount listed on your Order, additional fees for additional classes purchased within the Term, and all applicable taxes consistent with payment terms for Services as set forth in the AWS Customer Agreement available at https://aws.amazon.com/agreement, or other written agreement, governing your use of the Services (the “Agreement”). Unless specifically modified in the Agreement, all amounts are in local currency, which may be adjusted on an exchange rate determined by AWS.

1.2.1 Prepaid Training. Prepayment is available in certain countries, as approved by AWS, listed at  https://aws.amazon.com/training/aws-training-policies/countries/. If you opt to prepay, you agree to pay the amount listed on your Order and applicable taxes (“Prepaid Funds”) within 30 days of (1) the Effective Date, or (2) receipt of the prepayment invoice, whichever is later. If you do not prepay within 30  days, AWS may invoice you as described in Section 1.2, after delivery of classes. Prepaid Funds are non-refundable and expire at the end of the Term. To help you manage your Prepaid Funds, AWS will provide a “Monthly Usage Summary Statement” outlining the classes delivered and your remaining balance. Prepaid Funds may not be applied to any other AWS Account, Service, or Order and may not be transferred to any third party or exchanged for cash, discounting or other funding.

1.2.2 Funding, Discounts, and Credits. AWS will charge you a fee equal to the value of any funding or discounts you have received for Classroom Training if you do not consume Classroom Training equal to the total order amount listed in your Order for Classroom Training within the Term. AWS will disburse all credits for Classroom Training as detailed in your Order and your separate credit agreement only if you consume Classroom Training equal to the total order amount for Classroom Training within Term.

1.3 Class Size. For any class, the maximum number of individuals who may access a class (“Learners”) is 25.

1.4 Class Scheduling. Classes are either scheduled with start dates in your Order, or you must contact your AWS Training representative to schedule any class without a start date at least 14 days before the end of the Term.

1.4.1 Class Rescheduling and Cancelation. Either you or AWS may reschedule or cancel a class at least 14 days before the class start date. If you request to reschedule or cancel a class less than 14 days before the class start date, AWS may bill you the fee listed in your Order for the canceled class (without training funding applied), incurred travel expenses listed in the Order, and applicable taxes. If you make a rescheduling request at least 14 days before the class start date but AWS is unable to reschedule within the Term, you may keep the original class start date, or where AWS is unable to fulfill the original class date, AWS will cancel the class at no charge. If AWS makes a rescheduling request at least 14  days before the class start date but you are unable to reschedule the class within the Term, AWS will cancel the class at no charge. If AWS discontinues a scheduled class, you may accept AWS’s suggested replacement class or cancel the class at no charge.

2. Skill Builder Team Subscription

This Section 2 applies to your purchase of subscriptions (“Team Subscription(s)”) for seats (“Seats”) for your Learners to access self-paced digital training content (“Skill Builder”) as described in your Order.

2.1 Skill Builder Fees and Payment. You agree to purchase a Team Subscription as of the date the last party signs, clicks-to-accept, confirms, or completes your Order (the “Effective Date”). The Team Subscription is priced per Seat, as described in your Order and the AWS Skill Builder Team Subscription Pricing site available at https://aws.amazon.com/training/digital/pricing/. The Team Subscription charge will appear on the AWS Billing Console, alongside your other Services usage charges. Team Subscriptions are subject to the payment terms of the Agreement.

2.2 Term. The Team Subscription provides you access to your Seats for one year (“Team Subscription Term”) beginning on the start date defined in Section 2.3. The Team Subscription does not auto-renew. To maintain uninterrupted access to your Seats, you must work with your AWS Training representative to place a new order for the Team Subscription before the end of your Team Subscription Term.

2.3 Start Date and Seat Access. You must provide AWS all reasonably necessary setup information within 5 business days of the Effective Date, or at the time requested in your Order. Your start date is 20 days from your Order Effective Date or when AWS informs your Learning Administrator(s) that your Team Subscription is ready, whichever occurs first. If you set a preferred start date in your Order, it must be at least 20 business days after the Effective Date. If you select a preferred start date in the last 2 business days of any month the actual start date of your Team Subscription will be the first business day of the following month. If you inform your AWS Training representative in writing within 2 business days of the start date that you do not have access to your Seats, your Team Subscription will not start until AWS confirms you have access. If you purchase a Team Subscription through a reseller, you and your reseller determine your subscription period and Seat access.

2.4 Additional Seats. If you are already using your Team Subscription, you can purchase additional Seats under that same Team Subscription. Your start date follows the same timeline set out in Section 2.3. All Seats purchased during the Team Subscription Term will expire at the end of the Team Subscription Term regardless of when the Seats were purchased within the Team Subscription Term. Fees for additional Seats will be calculated pro-rata based on the remaining Team Subscription Term, and will be communicated to you in writing by AWS.

2.5 Seat Assignment and Reassignment. Only one Learner can use a Seat at any given time, and Seats are meant to be used by a single Learner throughout the Team Subscription Term. You may reassign up to twenty percent of Seats to different Learners within your organization during the Team Subscription Term. If you reassign a Learner’s Seat, they will no longer be able to access any subscription-only training content. However, they will be able to access their training record.

3. Enterprise Skills Transformation

This Section 3 applies to your purchase of training deployment and skills development support (“Enterprise Skills Transformation” or “EST”), as described in your Order.

3.1 EST Term. The term of your EST (“EST Term”) will begin on the start date and end on the end date indicated in your Order.

3.2 The EST Program Guide. The EST Program Guide available at https://aws.amazon.com/training/est-program-guide/ is incorporated by reference into your Order. AWS may update the EST Program Guide from time to time.

3.3 Payments. You agree to pay the amount listed on your Order and all applicable taxes. AWS will invoice you a monthly fee for your EST after the end of each month for the duration of the Term. The monthly fee for the first and last month of your EST Term will be calculated pro-rata based on the number of days between the start date listed in your Order and the end of the first month of the EST Term, and the first day of the last month and the end date listed in your Order. Unless specifically modified in the Agreement, all amounts are in local currency. Payments may be made in non-local currency if accepted by AWS. The total amount listed in your order may be adjusted via an exchange rate as determined by AWS.

3.4 Cancelation. Either you or AWS may cancel your Order. AWS will stop delivering EST to you when AWS receives your notification, which may be via email. AWS will charge you for the full month during which AWS receives your notification, but will not charge you any more monthly fees for EST for any following months.

3.5 EST Team Access. To enable EST support and guidance, AWS may require access to your internal communication systems including but not limited to email, instant messaging, and other systems related to such access as identified by you (“Customer Systems”). When accessing Customer Systems, AWS agrees to comply with customer’s reasonable policies and procedures, to the extent such policies and procedures are (i) applicable to such access and use, and (ii) do not conflict with the Agreement. Subject to your prior approval, you will arrange for AWS to have reasonable access to your Customer Systems to the extent required to enable EST, and at no additional cost to AWS. You may revoke your access approval at any time. AWS is not responsible for any failure to perform caused by your revocation of AWS’ access to your Customer Systems.
